NEW Hella LED Daytime Running Lamps

31 October 07

Hella remain at the forefront of lighting technology once again with the release of new LED daytime running lamps. So what’s the big deal ...?

The benefits of LED lighting have been openly embraced by the transport industry. LED lighting replaces conventional bulbs, and deliver much greater dependability, are more durable, have a much longer life, and require significantly less power to produce light. At the end of the day LEDs make financial sense for operators.

The new daytime running lamps have the distinction of being one of the first LED products to be approved as daytime running lamps in the world.

On top of the standard benefits of LED, these lamps are multi-voltage and supplied with a well-thought out wiring loom.

Built-in relays allow ease of fitment & integration with the vehicle. For example the lamps will automatically activate when the vehicle key is turned on, and conversely deactivate when the park lights are on.

In general, daytime running lamps are the way-forward for safety conscious operators. European statistics have shown a 25% reduction of vehicle accidents through the use of these lamps. In turn, these type of statistics have seen Switzerland make their use a legal requirement.

Better, more durable, safer, more economical: Hella delivers again!

Kids in Cars 2008

30 October 07

We’re proud to announce TWL’s co-sponsorship of the ‘Truckers Day Out’ as part of the ‘Kids in Cars’ event to be held in Auckland on the 6th January 2008.

When offered this opportunity there was only one answer - yes! All proceeds from the event are passed on to Camp Quality. Camp Quality is dedicated to bringing fun, hope and happiness to the lives of children aged 5 to 16 living with cancer, their families and communities, through provision of high quality recreational experiences!

Each year Camp Quality run week long residential programmes in five locations throughout New Zealand. More than 300 children attend one of these camps on an annual basis. In addition other activities are run during the course of the year including family days, reunion days, mini-camps & social outings.

As  part of our sponsorship TWL will be providing First & Second prizes for the truck ‘Show & Shine’ event. First prize is 10 Alcoa Wheels & Second Prize a big Powerbuilt tool chest with tools. The prizes are valued at almost $15,000.

Kids in Cars 2008 will be held at Pukekohe Park Raceway. The objective this year is to raise enough to fund 80 children to “Camp Quality”.

This year the event is held with the support of the National Road Carriers Assn, Radio Hauraki, Gough Power Systems, Southpac Trucks & TWL.

In 2007 the event had a fantastic turnout with over 100 cars & a staggering 154 trucks. Racing ‘Legend’ Greg Murphy was there doing hotlaps for people who bid for the rides. Truck drivers also took many of the children for laps.

This year it will be even bigger with over 300 trucks expected. Former NZ Landspeed record-holder ‘Racing’ Ray Williams will be this years ‘hotlaps’ driver & resident celebrity.

This year  the beginning of the event will involve trucks meeting at the Goughs Wiri site and forming a convoy under police escort to Pukekohe Raceway.
