TWL’s new mega-store opened in Christchurch in June and is already proving a hit with truckies and workshops around Canterbury.
TWL’s Scott Holt says the concept is designed to provide more products faster and with easier access to the store.
“Last year I toured the country and we ran focus groups with our customers. What customers wanted most is quick access to parts and good sound advice when they need it,” said Holt.
“The concept of the Mega-Store is to do just that. Because of its size we can carry a large range of stock. The last thing you want when you need to get a vehicle back into service is a delay in getting parts. Particularly if that part is a standard piece of equipment or a consumable”.
“We have looked hard at our range and put a lot of effort into the stock we carry and the level of that stock throughout our branches. The demand and types of part vary from store to store. We will never get it perfectly right, but we can strive to be better than any one else in the marketplace. If we don’t have a part we move heaven and earth to get it for a customer”.
“We are very lucky in Christchurch to have a quality team of experts that have a deep understanding of the industry and know our business back-to-front. Graeme Bruning, our branch manager, has over 25 years of industry experience, and the collective experience in the branch totals over 190 years”.
“The new mega store gives us full access to our entire product range out of the South Island distribution centre. So far the response we are getting from customers is great. The location is right, at our Hornby site rather than on busy Blenheim Rd. Trucks now have access, whereas the Blenheim Road site was much more restricted. The diversity of parts now available has also generated some very positive feedback.”
